Meet one of our furry friends on campus, Biscuit. Biscuit is an adorable elderly cat who belongs to Yasmin Elgamal, a junior English secondary education major at Elizabethtown College. Elgamal is a cat lover, through and through, and is honored to highlight her cat Biscuit.
Biscuit is somewhere between 8 to 12 years old, but anyone who has met him would guess that he is at least 25. Biscuit is a white and brown spotted tabby cat who loves everyone’s attention. His recognizable soft white coat and big eyes are always something Elgamal looks forward to when she comes home.
“We got him in January of 2022, and someone found him living under a trailer, so we took him in. He is a stray, so we do not exactly know” Elgamal said.
Biscuit has been on campus for almost a year now, making his presence known on campus with his incredibly loud meow, often waking up his roommates.
This feline has an outgoing and spunky personality. His unique and sassy behaviors are a perfect fit as Elgamal’s campus best friend, always greeting her with energy, even when she is tired after a long day. Biscuit often spends his free time howling, relaxing and taking naps in bed. He has the busiest schedule of all.
Biscuit was originally an outdoor cat, who ran wild through the streets of New Jersey. Now, he is a retired indoor cat, whose favorite spot to sleep is either under Elgamal’s roommate’s–Kayla Harvey’s–bed, or in his cat bed.
A beloved habit Biscuit has is when he sits at the foot of the bed when Elgamal is falling asleep and curls up with her. Biscuit is a total cuddlebug, often climbing into people’s laps, falling asleep, laying against people or meowing until someone pets him.
On the other hand, one of his less tasteful habits is when he screams because he is not getting enough attention.
The creative name ‘Biscuit’ was actually thought up by Elgamal’s sister. However, Elgamal takes credit for his full name, which is Biscuit B. Gravy. Elgamal also admits that Biscuit has an evil alter ego, Triscuit. He takes on this form when he misbehaves by either throwing up, getting late night zoomies, or howling at all hours of the night, occasionally waking up whoever is trying to sleep.
Elgamal loves having her best buddy at all times: “I love having him on campus because when I get stressed, I know he is going to comfort me. Or, make it worse by throwing up somewhere.”
Elgamal loves having her best buddy on campus, and advocates for others to adopt because all fuzzy friends need a safe and warm home, but not until someone is ready for this large commitment. She has a wonderful time with her precious baby and always looks forward to coming home from work or classes and getting to see her boy.
