Business Review: Turquoise Bear’s Emporium

Business Review: Turquoise Bear’s Emporium

If you’re looking for an interesting store to explore, take a stroll down Market Street to Turquoise Bear’s Emporium.

Turquoise Bear’s Emporium, located at 21 S Market Street in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, is an antique store and Native American trading post. The store is hard to miss and catches your eye as the storefront windows are full of artifacts and antiques. The beguiling energy captivates your attention when you open the front door.

There are two sections to the store: a Native American trading post and a hodgepodge of miscellaneous items. You can find anything from vintage dining sets to fully functional film cameras to life-size statues of Santa Claus.

There’s something for everyone at this quaint shop. Turquoise Bear’s Emporium feels more like a museum than a store. There is so much history lacing the shelves, and not everything is for sale. Some pieces are just for display, much like the zoetrope kept safe and tucked away in a curio cabinet just a few feet from the entrance.

For the pieces that are on sale, the prices are very reasonable. On my last trip to Turquoise Bear’s Emporium, I purchased a vintage film camera and three Coca-Cola magnets from the 1990s featuring Kris Kringle. Surprisingly, I was able to make it out under $20. And for students, you’re in luck! This shop offers a student discount, varying depending on the item, but always a good deal.

The excitement doesn’t end with the mare’s nest beyond the front door. When you venture all the way back, you’re met with the Native American trading post.

The walls are lined with Native treasures from real horse hair to Native American artwork, nothing is truly off limits for this small town spectacle.

For those of you interested in unique jewelry, they have a whole display case full of sterling silver rings. No two pieces are alike, and no piece’s beauty can compare to the others. This is where you’ll find the prices start to rise, but it’s worth the cost for the elegance of a one of a kind ring.

The shop isn’t the most organized, but it’s an adventure to rummage through boxes of vinyl records, peer through glass cabinet doors and find that one incomparable trinket that might just make your collection come to life.

Everything has a story, and if you have the time, you might be able to hear every single one.

The shop owner is very conversational. He always finds the time to speak with every customer who walks through the door, making sure they know the importance of every item the eye can see. It makes for a fun educational experience alongside your shopping spree.

So, if you’re looking for some cool finds and a great conversation, Turquoise Bear’s Emporium is the place to go. The store has a very homey feel, and everyone is welcome.
