Women’s volleyball added 3-1 to its overall record, which is now at 15-2

Friday, Sept. 20, and Saturday, Sept. 21, the Elizabethtown College women’s volleyball team competed in the Misericordia Invitational at Misericordia University. The team’s overall record is now 15-2, and at the Invitational they left with three wins and one loss.

The first game was against the host team, Misericordia, where the Blue Jays took a 3-2 win. Although Misericordia took the first two sets, the Blue Jays came back strong in the third set, sending the game into two more sets where they won both. Senior Elle Shatto led the team in kills with a total of 20, followed by first-year Bryanna Miller with 14.

In the third set for the win, Etown came 10-8 in the half and took a two-point advantage. Although they did not keep this lead, they were able to still take the set.

Etown’s next win was 3-1 over State University of New York at Oswego. Etown was down by six points midway through the first set. The Blue Jays were able to come back with kills by sophomore Elizabeth Zeiber and Shatto. The Blue Jays took the win but not without some resistance from Oswega. Etown fell in the second set, taking their first loss, but came back with wins in the third and fourth set.

The third win for the Blue Jays was 3-0 against the University of Valley Forge, and the last match against State University of New York College at Cortland was a 0-3 loss for the Blue Jays.

The team will be hosting the Blue Jay Classic starting Friday, Sept. 27, at 8 p.m.
