Seasonal Treats: What fall themed drinks and foods do Etown students enjoy?

As summer comes to an end, many restaurants start releasing their seasonal fall menu. Most of these releases across the board typically include pumpkin, chai, apple cider, hot drinks and some apple or pumpkin themed pastries or pies.

As college students, our Blue Jays love their coffee throughout the day. So, let’s hear what some of their favorite seasonal items are.

Kayla Harvey, a senior industrial engineering major, finds herself getting seasonal drinks to celebrate the start of fall, along with giving her a boost of energy for her challenging courses and busy schedule.

“The only one I have tried is the Starbucks pumpkin chai and I have it every year,” Harvey said.

This tasty drink returns to the Starbucks menu every year, becoming a massive fan favorite, especially at Elizabethtown College, as many students line up between classes at the Blue Bean waiting for their drink. Harvey loves this drink in particular. “I love chai and I love pumpkin,” she said.

Another Blue Jay also looks forward to fall treats, Mallory Castle, a junior English literature major, loves pumpkin lattes. Castle’s love for pumpkin lattes runs deeper than just a love for the taste, it actually has a meaningful nostalgic taste for her.

“I love a good pumpkin latte,” Castle said. “Pumpkin is my favorite flavor; it reminds me of my childhood and the start of my favorite season! Every year I have to kick fall off with this drink!” This sentimental fall drink is tasty and meaningful.

Starbucks is a big hit among Etown students as another student found herself enjoying a fall menu drink from Starbucks as well.

Yasmin Elgamal, a junior English secondary education major said, “I like the pumpkin cream chai… that’s the one I look forward to every year.”

Elgamal works at a Starbucks located in Giant, so she is always on top of new menu releases.

Some other fall menu items include a pumpkin cream cheese muffin, and a unique item is the pecan oatmilk cortado.

While I personally do not drink coffee, I do love fall pastries. My favorite fall treat is apple pie. I love apple pie because it is warm and sweet, and I love cinnamon. My fall season is never complete without eating or baking a tasty apple pie.

If I were to pick one thing to try, it would be the pecan cold foam because that sounds enticing and tasty.

Now there have been other restaurants that have recently released a new menu. One restaurant is Taco Bell, bringing back their caramel apple empanada. I did try this sweet treat, and it was delicious. It was flavorful with cinnamon and was warm and gooey.

It seems that so many Etown students love fall themed treats and always look forward to the change of season where they can finally have their pumpkin and chai flavored drinks.
