Campus Dining: the best place to get food on campus

After living on campus for three years, it is safe to say I have eaten all over campus. Between Jay’s Nest, Fresh Nest, the Marketplace and the Blue Bean cafe, Elizabethtown College students are not going hungry. Each establishment on campus has its own staple items, making them so different from one another.

I personally like Jay’s Nest due to its accommodating business hours and more customizable food choices. Jay’s Nest has all types of food, including burgers, sandwiches, quesadillas, sushi and more. My personal favorite item from Jay’s Nest is the turkey pretzel melt. If I am hungry, Jay’s nest is predictable, and I know exactly what I can get.

At Jay’s Nest, I can also grab any type of candy, drink or chips I would like throughout the day. I love stopping for a quick snack between my classes. Fresh Nest and Marketplace snack and drink options are more limited, making Jay’s Nest more convenient for that purpose.

Now, I do find myself at Blue Bean regularly, but I typically only get one of their delicious drinks,a banana chocolate chip muffin or not something super filling.

The Marketplace and Fresh Nest also have delicious food without a doubt. Many students, including myself, enjoy Fresh Nest’s incredible ramen and others enjoy Marketplace’s daily menu of three meals a day.

It can be hard to compare all the options and select a favorite, because if I want homemade tasting pizza or pasta made to order, you will find me in the Marketplace. On the other hand, if I am craving a mango smoothie, I will definitely be making my way over to the Bowers Center to get a Fresh Nest smoothie.

Some of my other favorite foods from Jay’s Nest include their buffalo chicken pizza, quesadillas and most sandwiches. These, paired with water and chips, make for a quick, easy and tasty lunch.

Another meal I find myself getting often from Jay’s Nest is sushi. I love the veggie rolls in Jay’s Nest;I find them filling and unique compared to many of the other options.

Finally, a notable favorite item from Jay’s Nest in my opinion, is ice cream. I love to get ice cream from Jay’s Nest on a Friday night and eat it while I relax in my dorm.

With all taken into consideration, and with just my personal opinion, I have come to prefer Jay’s Nest simply out of convenience, especially since I am in an apartment this year and do not use many meal swipes. Over the past few years, I have realized it is easier for me to go grab a quick snack from Jay’s. It is a safe option all around. When I go there with my friends, everyone can easily find something they enjoy. I do have a personal favorite spot to eat on campus, and that would be the Jay’s Nest.
