Business Review: WhirliGig Unique Boutique

Are you looking for a shop that’s warm, cozy and inviting? Are you a fan of drinking coffee, shopping for gifts and trying on cute clothes? Last but not least, do you like to treat yourself to charming gifts and trinkets from small businesses with kind shop owners? If so, then WhirliGig Unique Boutiques is definitely worth adding to your bucket list.

Located on S. Market Street in Elizabethtown, WhirliGig is a gift shop/boutique that shares a space with its sister company, EVO 206 Coffee Co. To get into WhirliGig, you first have to enter EVO, which has something for everyone. When you step through the coffee shop’s entrance, you’re welcomed by warm scents of espresso, comfy chairs and seats, and greetings from the kind employees.

EVO has a wide variety of flavors, from hazelnut to mocha to anything seasonal. I personally love to get a warm or iced latte before shopping at WhirliGig–it makes the shopping experience even cozier. If coffee isn’t your thing, though, EVO has hot chocolate, baked goods and even meals such as avocado toast and paninis. They also have a 10 percent student discount, which can be used if you show your Elizabethtown College ID to the employees.

To the left of EVO is WhirliGig, a boutique selling items from over eighty vendors. Independently owned, WhirliGig supports shopping small. Almost all of their items are handcrafted and locally made, ranging from jewelry to tote bags to adorable hair accessories. They also sell clothes, food, keychains, mugs, self-care products, home decor, stickers and more. If you’re in the market for holiday gifts or stocking stuffers, WhirliGig will have something that fits your needs.

My personal favorite purchases from WhirliGig are jewelry pieces. I especially love my boba earrings, which are still on sale toward the front of the shop. I also like to buy their headbands, wax melts, seasonal gifts and stickers, all of which are affordable for college students.

The staff at WhirliGig are wholeheartedly kind and inviting. From the moment you enter the shop, you’re either greeted by one of the staff or by the shop owner, both of whom can help you find whatever you need. Whether you strike up a casual conversation with them or you just share a smile, they’ll be sure to brighten up your day.

In addition to sharing its space with EVO, WhirliGig borders Cider Press Market and Now Wear This. Cider Press Market primarily specializes in furniture redesign, but they also sell home goods and other gifts. Meanwhile, Now Wear This is a consignment shop that buys and sells cute clothes. I highly recommend either of these shops for those looking to buy charming gifts and shop small.

WhirliGig is my favorite shop in Elizabethtown because of its snug, home-like environment. I always feel safe and welcomed there. I love to go there with a coffee from EVO in hand as I shop for my next find, whether it’s for myself or someone else. No matter what, WhirliGig will have something that catches your eye.
