In the digital age, it is much more common to see people buying games online. With Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus, going to a store and buying a physical video game is no longer a necessity. All you need to do for the thrill of a new game, is open your Steam library. However, if you are one who still prefers the physical, I have just the place for you. 

Just Press Play Mega Store is located at 2007 Lincoln Highway in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Approximately 20 miles and 30 minutes away from campus, this nerdy paradise is just a short journey away.

Upon entering the store, you are immediately met with a decision. Will you enter the Mega Store or the PlaySpace?

If you choose the Mega Store, the sheer size of the collection may be overwhelming. The collection of video games lining these shelves is truly endless. They have games for all generations of the Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo DS, Wii and so much more. It doesn’t stop there. They have everything pertaining to video games, anime, television, movies, music, table top role playing games, and dungeons and dragons. The collection is never ending. 

If you choose the PlaySpace, you will be met with a room full of tables. It is here that they host table top role playing games, tournaments, trading card games and screenings. It is also here that you can purchase the materials you may need for such events. They have wide collections of role playing game guides, board games, trading cards, dice, playing cards, Legos, stuffed animals, miniatures and even international snacks and drinks. I think the most unexpected thing I found in the store was a collection of old United States currency. While I was excited to see some rare finds, it felt very out of place in this establishment. 

That goes to show the limitations to their inventory knows no bounds. I have visited Just Press Play multiple times. I have spent hours scavenging these shelves, yet I still feel there is more to be discovered. There is so much to explore, there is something for everyone.

For those uninterested in gaming, there is an entire section dedicated to movie and television memorabilia. They have collectibles for just about everything. If you like gore, Art the Clown from the horror movie franchise “Terrifyer” is peering down at you from the top shelf, waiting to be taken to his new home. If you prefer the animated YouTube series “Helluva Boss,” look closely as you might just miss the plushies of Millie and Moxxie hiding on the bottom shelves. 

For the lovers of physical music media, venture up the stairs in the back of the Mega Store. You will find a vinyl record collection which puts mine to shame. Along with the devices needed to listen to them, you will find records, CDs and cassettes from every genre. From punk to pop to showtunes, everyone’s music taste is catered to.
