On Saturday, Sept. 11 at Haverford, Pa., the Elizabethtown College women’s volleyball team fell in two straight sets to both Geneseo College and Eastern College on the final day of the Ford Invitational hosted by Haverford.
With the two losses, the Blue Jays new win-loss record falls to 3-3 on the season.
Geneseo took the opening match 22-25, 24-26, 21-25. Etown senior Shelly Yohe finished with nine kills, which was the team’s highest number of kills that day. Sophomore Georgianna Kahley tallied seven kills, 14 digs, and four solo blocks. Sophomore Katie Scaggs registered five solo blocks of her own. Sophomore Kambrie Hepler wound up recording a team-high 28 digs and senior Rilegh Hudock handed out 17 assists.
Eastern scored the win in the second match by a final score of 22-25, 24-26, 24-26. Hudock followed up her opening match performance with a double-double against the Eagles. She finished the matches with 17 assists and 10 digs. Kahley registered eight kills and 15 digs while Hepler had 18 digs. Yohe recorded six kills to finish the day with 15.
The Blue Jays return to Thompson Gymnasium on Thursday, Sept. 16 to take on Delaware Valley University. Opening serve is set for 7 p.m.
