Women’s Swimming triumphs over Stevenson and Wilkes

On Nov. 13, in Owings Mills, Md., the Elizabethtown College women’s swim team closed out their weekend at Stevenson University in a tri-meet with Wilkes University. The Blue Jays defeated Stevenson 145-58 and Wilkes 162-8.

The Blue Jays took first in the first event of the day as Etown clocked in at 1 minute and 55.98 seconds in the 200 medley relay. In the 1000 meter freestyle, first-year Hailey Poulos claimed the top spot with a time of 11 minutes and 35.76 seconds while teammate senior Brooke Langowski finished third with a time of 12 minutes and 19.15 seconds. Langowski’s time in the 1000 meter free is a season best. In the 200 freestyle, the Blue Jays claimed the top three spots with First year Kaylee Blair leading the way at 2:02.34.

In the 50 freestyle, sophomore Gracie Harding took first, touching the wall at 26.22 seconds. Junior Sarah Marston placed first in the 200 IM while teammate first-year Emma Sabalaske finished second with a time of 2 minutes and 22.47 seconds. Junior Maddey Brelsford claimed first in the 100 butterfly, clocking in at 1 minute and 4.78 seconds. Marston added her second first place on the day as she came in with a time of 54.60 seconds in the 100 meter freestyle. Harding finished third in the 100 free with a time of 58.50.

In the 100 meter backstroke, Blair recorded her second first place of the day as she touched the wall at 1 minute 4.23 seconds. In the 500 meter freestyle, Marston with a time of 5 minutes and 38.25 seconds finished first while Sophomore Olivia Hillman with a time of 5 minutes and 55.84 seconds finished third. Etown went 1-2 in the 100 breaststroke, as Sabalske, with a time of 1 minute and 13.44 seconds, and First year Kylee Parks with a time of 1 minute and 15.97 seconds took the top two spots,

The Blue Jays travel to Catholic University on Saturday, Nov. 19 for a Landmark meet at 1 p.m.
