On Oct. 16 in Gettysburg Pa.,the Elizabethtown College women’s cross country team was back in action at the Gettysburg Aubrey Shenk Invitational after a two-week rest period. The Blue Jays placed third as a team with 116 points.
Sophomore Kelty Oaster was the team’s top finisher for the 6k (3.7 mile) race.
The College had five runners in the top 40 with a spread of 1 minute and 7.6 seconds between Oaster finishing 15th and senior Brooklyne Wiley, who rounded out the scoring members for the Jays. Oaster finished her 6k in 24:33.0.
Senior Hallie Weaver was also in the top 20 as she took 19th in 24:38.6. Junior Bridget Kennedy and Junior Madison Webber were the next two to cross for Etown. Kennedy ran 25:02.3 to take 24th and Webber was not far behind in 25:08.2, good for 27th. Wiley was 40th at 25:40.6.
Saint Francis University was the meet winner. Susquehanna University took second in front of Elizabethtown.
The meet was the final one of the regular season for the Blue Jays, who will now work to defend their Landmark Conference Championship in two weeks on Oct. 30 in Bethlehem, Pa. The 2021 Landmark Championship meet is being hosted by Moravian University at Bicentennial Park with the race set to start at 12 p.m.
