Swim Team’s season recap and championship preview

Elizabethtown College men’s and women’s swim teams’ regular seasons came to a close at the end of January. On Jan. 28, both the men’s and women’s swim teams had their last regular season meet. Both teams had a successful regular season, each sporting a winning record as championship weekend nears.

The men’s swim team jumped into the season red hot, winning six straight meets to begin the year. However, as the season progressed, the Blue Jays dropped four of their last five races. Still, the team hung on to a 7-4 record, finishing above .500 by the season’s end. Their home and neutral site records especially stand out, as they found major success in both categories, losing just one and winning four at home and winning both of their neutral site meets.

With championship weekend approaching, the men’s team will look to recapture some of that early season success. They will dive into the pool two weekends from now on Feb. 17 18 and 19 for the Landmark Conference Swimming & Diving Championships in Boyds, Md.

Etown’s women’s swim team also found success throughout their regular season matchups. The Blue Jays stayed consistent throughout the season, finishing well above the .500 mark with an impressive 9-4 record. Similarly, the women’s team found a great deal of success at home, achieving a perfect record of 5-0. They also captured a perfect record at neutral sites, winning two of two. The team also ended the season on a high note which included a three-game winning streak, as they race into championship weekend.

The women’s championship races will happen on the same days as the men’s, those being Feb. 17, 18 and 19 at the Landmark Conference Swimming & Diving Championships.
