Professional Sports Update: Football and baseball

The Dallas Cowboys are making sports headlines this week. They recently lost a game with a final score of 19-3 against Tom Brady and the Buccaneers to begin their season. Additionally, Cowboys’ quarterback Dak Prescott fractured a joint very close to his thumb, inhibiting his ability to throw the football in the fourth quarter of that game. As a result, Prescott will have to go for surgery and be out for several weeks. This could affect the season going forward for the Cowboys.

Some other headlines are that the Major League Baseball (MLB) is starting to wind down and the race to the playoffs and the World Series begins. The New York Mets are still currently in the lead for the National League East after losing two straight games.

Not only that, but the Atlanta Braves made a difference as well. The Braves have been on a long winning streak and managed to almost beat the Mets on Friday. The Mets were able to come back at the end and wound up winning the game. Those are some of the major headlines of the National League East. Now, here is what is going on in the American League (AL).

In the AL, things are also starting to get interesting. The Cleveland Guardians are currently holding a two game lead over the Chicago White Sox. The Cleveland Guardians are currently in first place in the AL and the Chicago White Sox are currently in second place. Meanwhile, the Minnesota Twins have fallen from second place to third place after losing eight out of their 10 most recent games.
