Moneyball

Moneyball

“Moneyball” is a biographical sports drama about the manager of the Oakland Athletics Baseball Team in 2002. This movie is based on the nonfiction book by Michael Lewis. The manager’s name was Billy Beane and his assistant manager Peter Brand who are dealing with a low budget while trying to assemble a competitive team.

As Beane and Brand were trying to assemble their team for the 2002 season, they ignored what the scouts were saying, and instead, were choosing to draft players based on an on-base percentage. The scouts do not like this strategy, and accuse him of trying to ruin the team.

While that is going on, Beane is also facing tension from the Athletics manager Art Howe. There was already tension between Beane and Howe because of a contract dispute, and this added to the pressure. Howe then sets a preferred lineup, which Beane does not like. Beane starts trading players, and the Athletics start winning.

Do the Athletics get any better? Does the tension ease between Howe and Beane? Watch the movie to find out.
