As the leaves turn and students slowly return to campus, Elizabethtown College gets ready to begin a new season of intramurals. The informal sports league has always appealed to students who want to stay fit and meet new peers, but this year, intramurals are in demand more than ever, with COVID-19 limiting the activities happening in-person on campus. Students will once again begin the season, this time with a new set of challenges due to COVID-19. Intramurals allow students who are not interested in or able to participate in competitive sports to still play in a more casual, fun environment. Students must form a team and sign up. Intramurals offer a variety of sports, including C cornhole, volleyball and pickleball, to name a few. The Fall season begins Sept. 28 and 29, as the cornhole and pickleball doubles sports kick off. Oct. 4 marks the beginning of beach volleyball, and esports registration will begin on Nov. 2. Intramurals are played throughout the week at Bowers Center. Other upcoming sports include bowling, basketball, soccer and flag football, among others. New COVID-19 restrictions are also in place, which limit the number of students allowed to participate at a time and require all players to sanitize their equipment before returning it.
Registration for cornhole, pickleball and volleyball closes Sept. 25.
