Intramural basketball contest

Sunday, February 28, Elizabethtown College held an intramural basketball shooting competition. The contest featured eight competitors, who were shooting basketballs to win the contest. Whoever had the most points at the end of the contest won.

At first, there were 20 layups which were one point each. Then, there were 20 foul shots with each shot equal to two points. Then, there were 20 shots from the top of the key for two points. Then, there were three shots from the wing for three points each, and three shots from the corners of the wings were four points each. Then came the “filthy 8.”

The “filthy 8” consisted of eight shots. Four of the shots were layups for two points each, and then there were two shots from two feet away from the basket for three points each. Those were followed by two shots from the elbow for four points each. The last two shots were from half court, which were worth 10 points each.

Sophomore Matt Fick competed in the tournament. He had a great time, and received second place to first-year Vincent Gambelunghe. Fick enjoyed the competition and said, “I would do it again.”
