Field hockey celebrates Senior Day with big win

The Elizabethtown College Blue Jay field hockey team took the win against Goucher College on Wolf Field on Saturday, Oct. 21. It was a strong Senior Day for the team and they started things off on the right foot with a goal in the first two minutes of the first quarter. First-year Hannah Long scored with an assist from senior Salena Paronish. Not even two minutes later, the Blue Jays scored yet another goal against Goucher. This second goal was scored by sophomore Drew Bridges with an assist from Long. Long was on her game this Saturday with both a goal and an assist.

This made for an exciting first few minutes of the game and with two goals already scored, Etown was in a good position for the game. For the remainder of the game there was not much action as the ball was being passed back and forth between the teams without any goals being scored. Etown was already ahead from the first quarter and with nothing happening in the second quarter, they were in a good position. In the second quarter there were nine shots made by Goucher and four shots made by Etown.

During the third quarter, Etown had dominant possession of the ball for the most part. With still no more goals scored, the team managed to get many shots that were made by Long and Bridges. The Blue Jays tried to score another goal and Goucher was not able to score any goals. There was continuous back and forth with the ball again in this quarter. In the remaining two minutes of the quarter, Bridges took one last shot to the goal and it was saved by the Goucher goalie. This game concluded with the score of 2-0, with the Blue Jays winning this Landmark Conference game.

Etown is proud of their seniors and were happy to recognize them at this game with their parents.  They thank their seniors for all the years they have played for the College field hockey team and congratulate them all!
