Blue Jays place eighth in Dickinson Invitational

This week in Carlisle Pa., the Elizabethtown College men’s golf team returned back to campus with eighth place at the Dickinson Invitational Tournament at the Carlisle Barracks Golf Course Saturday morning.

The Blue Jays carded a +50, 338 strokes to finish eighth out the nine teams competing. Franklin & Marshall won both the team and individual titles, scoring +15, with 303 strokes as a group to out score second place Dickinson by only one stroke. The Diplomats’ Mike Gallagher finished even par, carding an even 72.

First year Jacob Geiter had a career winning day, finishing with a +7, with 79 strokes earning him a tie for 14th place. Geiter became the fifth Etown golfer to break 80 this season. His mark also ties him with teammate Senior Blake Wallace for the fourth lowest score this year.

Senior Brady McLamb finished just inside the top 30, tying for 29th with a +11, with a final stroke count of 83. Wallace (37th) and first-year Zachery Clapper (40th) each finished under 90 strokes, carding a +15, with a final stroke count of 87 and a +17, with a total of 89 strokes respectively. Senior Ed Rainey rounded out the scoring for the Blue Jays, finishing in a tie for 43rd place.

Senior Luke Reiter played as an individual and finished in a tie for 35th with a +13, with a final stroke count of 85 strokes.

Etown is scheduled to play again on Thursday, April 7 at the Hershey Country Club East. The tee times start at 12 p.m.
