Recently, the bike share program was announced to reopen. For those that do not know what the bike share program is, it is a free service for Elizabethtown College students and employees. According to Director of the Bowers Center for Sports, Fitness and Well-being Whitney Crull,
“You simply go to the Bowers Center Equipment Desk or Welcome Desk and ask the Bowers Center staff member if there are available bikes. You will scan your Etown ID to check your bike out and be given a key. The Bowers Center staff member will also ask you how long you would like to borrow the bike (no more than one week at a time). You will then walk over to the Bike Share rack located on Patio of the Bowers Center, where you will locate the bicycle corresponding to your key number. You can then unlock your bike and ride it!” At the end of your bike share time, you lock the bike, to the rack, and lock it. You then return the bike lock key to the Bowers Center Information Desk.
For those who are worried about COVID policies being enacted through the bike share program, the bikes will get thoroughly cleaned before and after use. Helmets are not provided, so you will have to bring your own. Students and faculty can purchase helmets to keep if you want or need to.
There is a form to fill out, but once the form is filled out, you can pick up your bike from out front of the Bowers Center. You will receive a key and a bike lock and then you have access to that bike with that lock for a week.
You can either go to the front desk to fill out the paperwork, or visit https://www.etown.edu/bowers-center/reservations-rentals/index.aspx
