Elizabethtown College’s men’s lacrosse team had a terrific run in the 2008-09 school year, beginning the season with a 14-5 win against Moravian College March 8, 2009. Senior and Captain Ryan McCaffery described the team’s defense and resilience as primary keys to getting ahead.
“We’ve had some good offensive output, and our defense has obviously played well,” McCafferty explained.
The Jays went on to top Immaculata University 15-2 before losing a well-fought game to Widener University, 7-5. The team regrouped, however, to win their next game against DeSales University 8-7. The Jays then went on to crush the Gwenedd-Mercy College Griffins with an impressive 20 goals.
Eventually the Jays went on to compete against Fairleigh Dickinson University in the conference semifinals. Despite their impressive run, they lost the game 10-8 and were eliminated. The Jays expressed a contentment with their run and game play. Sophomore Shawn Corcoran stated how he was “definitely happy with how the team has played and worked together.”
