On Monday, March 7, the Philadelphia 76ers faced off against, and defeated, the Chicago Bulls, 121-106, at the Wells Fargo Center. The 76ers, with a current record of 40 wins to 24 losses, played a very aggressive game against one of the biggest contenders in the Eastern Conference, the Bulls, with a current record of 39 wins to 26 losses.
The 76ers set the tone of the game early in the first quarter and never looked back. Philadelphia jumped out to a 32-27 lead in the first quarter and continued to increase their lead up to six points ahead of the Bulls. The game went on until the final 12 minutes of the first half, and by then, the score was 22-21 with the 76ers in the lead. Philadelphia continued to play aggressively and continued to score basket after basket during the second half as well, leading the score in the third quarter 29-24. Philadelphia also won the fourth quarter with a final score of 33-29.
Philadelphia dominated this game from start to finish and did not hesitate to top its competition without too much struggle. With the win, the 76ers’ record improved to 19 wins and 13 losses at home and the Bulls moved to 15 wins and 16 losses. Center and power forward for Philadelphia Joel Embiid had a very impressive MVP-level performance with 43 points, 14 rebounds, three blocks, two steals and two assists throughout the game. He was not the only one to have a great game, though. Teammate and point and shooting guard James Harden ended with a double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds while also adding eight rebounds.
The Philadelphia 76ers return to action on Thursday, March 10 at the 76ers home stadium. The jump ball is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
