Technology company Apple announced long-awaited and anticipated products, such as the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro and Apple Watch Series 7, during their Apple September 2021 event held Tuesday, Sept. 14.

CEO of Apple Tim Cook was the main speaker of the event. Before announcing any products, he first took the time to promote Apple’s streaming service Apple TV+, making note of the Apple original, highly-acclaimed comedy series “Ted Lasso,” and showed trailers for new series premiering this fall.

Cook kicked off the announcements with the iPad, stressing its versatility, popularity and the iPadOS, which provides the iPad with its powerful features. The new iPad has more powerful and improved features and is designed for ease of use and versatility. Among these features are the A13 Bionic chip which makes everything more responsive and can power advanced apps like Adobe Fresco, an all-day battery life, 20 percent faster GPU to improve graphics and an upgraded camera. In terms of visuals, a user can use multiple apps at once on the 10.2-inch Retina display while True Tone adjusts the screen display to the color temperature of the room to make viewing comfortable in any lighting.

Cook then transitioned to discuss the iPad Mini, giving the portable device its biggest upgrade yet. New features include a new all-screen design with an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display, an A15 Bionic chip, superfast 5G for better connectivity, improved camera, 40 percent faster CPU performance, support for the Apple Pencil and four available device colors. Both the iPad and the iPad Mini have Center Stage, which makes video calls more engaging by automatically adjusting the camera to keep you in the center of the frame.

Cook then changed gears to announce the new Apple Watch Series 7, complete with the line’s largest display yet with redesigned buttons and keyboard. The Series 7 is also the most durable Apple Watch, being crack, dust and water resistant. New health innovations include measuring the user’s blood oxygen level, allowing the user to take an ECG at any time and reading the user’s heart’s electrical signals. It also has a 33 percent faster charge than the Series 6.

Finally, Cook gets to the main event: the iPhone 13 announcement. The new iPhone is more durable than its predecessors, has a new dual-camera system with a new ultra-wide camera, Cinematic mode and photographic styles. The often-mocked front camera also got some serious upgrades, including everything the back camera has and the most secure facial authentication in a smartphone. The iPhone 13 also has 128GB of storage, a super retina XDR display and 2.5 more hours of battery life.

The final announcement of the event was the iPhone 13 Pro. This new iPhone is incredibly durable being made of surgical-grade stainless steel, having a ceramic shield and being water resistant. Like the iPhone 13, the iPhone 13 Pro got an enormous camera upgrade as well as better lighting and closer zoom. It also has 1TB of storage available and an improved graphics display.

With all of the camera upgrades, it seems like Apple wants to make a cinematographer out of its average user.

The iPad, iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro will be available for purchase Friday, Sept. 24 starting at $329, $29.12 per month for 24 months and $41.62 per month for 24 months, respectively.
