Business Buzz: How gratitude is saving the business world

Gratitude has been taking over the world for personal growth for the past few years. Journaling about everything we appreciate or are thankful for encourages  us to reassess our lives.Though this seems to be only personal growth, the business sector has taken notes, saving itself from workplace toxicity.

Gratitude plays a vital role in employee satisfaction. In a recent poll, 93 percent of its respondents said that when they received a thank you from their boss, it made them feel more appreciated and respected. Expression of gratitude also allows the employees to focus on what they like about the company, other than what may annoy them. It has also been noted that more job satisfaction can occur within six months of an expression of gratitude. In a research study conducted by the American Psychological Association (APA), they found that 93 percent of employees found themselves encouraged to have higher levels of engagement, and only 21 percent of participants will be looking for a new job.

Gratitude is something that is a basic human necessity. It allows us to feel appreciated, wanted and trusted. It gives us a sense of happiness and raises productivity levels, along with creating trust and community within the workplace. It makes a place where employees feel safe to generate new ideas and discuss ways to improve the business for which they work. This can create a healthier work environment and develop possible new streams of revenue if suggestions are taken into consideration.
