“It’s a great thing to do on a Friday night with my friends, and we’re all 21 so we can enjoy it,” Romeo said.
Many students shared these feelings and came to spend time with friends and connect with new people. Others came to have fun and stay busy on a Friday night on campus.
Seniors Hope McQuoid and Halley Novitch also came to support their friend and the OSA organizer behind this event senior Victoria Vaughn.
Vaughn works for OSA and when asked how long this event took to plan, she replied, “not that long.”
She explained OSA had most of the materials already and only had to buy the food for the event, which consisted of a charcuterie board with an arrangement of crackers, cheeses and meats. There were also individual snacks provided.
As mentioned, Conrad’s Corner was also present. Vaughn explained OSA attempts to have Conrad’s Corner at events at least twice a month and sometimes more. Students over 21 must show a valid state ID and are then given an identification band to wear. Anyone over the age of 21 is then permitted one free alcoholic beverage per hour. Conrad’s Corner has various beers, wines and White Claws.
By the end of the evening, everyone had a great time painting and a lot of fun.
As the doors open, groups of friends rush into the room to claim a table and grab their supplies. It is a Friday night Paint n’ Sip event hosted by the Office of Student Activities (OSA). All students are welcome, despite the name implying you may have to be over 21-years-old.
On Friday, Nov. 12 OSA hosted a Paint n’ Sip night in Hoover for all students to enjoy. Conrad’s Corner, the on-campus mobile bar, was set up and students over the age of 21 were welcome to alcoholic beverages, while underage students could enjoy nonalcoholic beverages such as juice or water.
Once students arrived, they grabbed their supplies and began, as this paint night was unguided, and students were welcome to paint whatever they pleased. However, if students felt a little stuck there were links to Bob Ross painting videos available so they could follow along. Many students chose to follow a tutorial as they were not confident in their painting abilities. However, some students decided to paint their own design and allow their creative side to take over.
Students such as seniors Emma Romeo, Carly Patterson and Kayla Wolf were excited to attend this paint night.
