The start of a new academic year at Elizabethtown College comes with another poster sale during the second week of classes. The sale was a one-stop shop for all dorm decoration needs.
The poster sale ran from Sept. 4 to Sept. 5 in the Koons Activity Venue (KAV) where students could drop in at any time between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. This wide time range allowed students to come whenever they had free time. It also meant that there were some busier and not-so-busy times to shop for posters.
Junior Percy Lachman visited the sale twice due to the large crowds.
“The first time I went it was extremely crowded,” they said I felt rushed.”
Although that was their first impression, Lachman added that when they returned to the emptier KAV it was a better experience.
They also commented on the great range of posters that were for sale. There were topics ranging from music artists such as Sabrina Carpenter and Weezer to popular movies and TV shows such as Barbie and Friends. Posters also came in smaller sizes so students could fit more of their favorite things on the limited wall space.
Another sales attendee, Sophomore Teddy Bazyar, noted that they enjoyed the smaller posters more. “I already brought so many wall decorations that I had bought last year, so a big poster wasn’t going to fit on my wall,” they said. “And they were much cheaper than the large ones.”
Bazyar also mentioned that the posters were very relatable and “up-to-date”. They said that there was nothing there that they didn’t consider buying.
“It made it really hard to choose,” they expressed. “Did I want a new album cover or a silly art poster? It was so hard to choose just a couple.”
When seeing the crowds that the poster sale brought to the KAV this year, it was interesting to ask the employees how things were on their side of the sale. Nick Stag, an employee running this year’s sale, mentioned that the number of posters he had sold in the past two days was simply “a lot.” However, he was able to give more insight into the most popular style poster sold.
“Music is the most popular,” Stag said. “Chappell Roan is definitely the most popular one this semester.”
Album covers and posters of music artists appear to be something many students can bond about and use as some great decoration. Many also seem to enjoy having their favorite artists and their favorite artist’s favorite artist on their dorm room walls.
Etown has been hosting a back-to-school poster sale for a couple of years now, and they have luckily managed to stay relevant with the newest trends and continue to match the aesthetic of anyone’s dorm room.
