OSA encourages students to“be creative” with Paint n Sip

The Office of Student Activities (OSA) always knows how to bring people together to enjoy themselves during the school year with some fun activities, Paint n’ Sip being one.

On March 8, the Paint n’ Sip event took place in the Jay Lounge from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Organized by OSA, Paint n’ Sip is made to bring people together to relish their inner artist around sodas and snacks while others bond and learn new skills. This event was favorable even for people over 21 years old after presenting their I.D. to get an alcoholic beverage while painting.

The head coordinators for this event were sophomore Rose Lasso, junior Hannah Rosborough and junior Katie Hart. They were happy and excited to make others enjoy what they had prepared. The only hope they had was that people had fun. They mostly looked forward to seeing others’ paintings. Watching them work with a smile and so eager to help others made the environment so peaceful. The music playing and laughs made everything fall into place.

Many people showed up, including groups of friends and individuals that were excited about making new friends. The fun part of all this is that people could have the same picture they want to reproduce but, in the end, they all look different. It was interesting seeing how unique all the pieces were.

“I think our team deciding to let people paint their own ideas (rather than follow a Bob Ross video) went over really well. It was so fun to see them express themselves!” Hart said. During the event, you could see people pulling out Pinterest, doing what their heart desires.

Talking to the attendees, most of them said that these events are the reason why they get out of their rooms or take a break from studying to refresh their minds a little bit. They always look forward to events like this during the school year to keep them entertained. Many wonder about how much work is done behind the scenes to make everything possible and expect a good outcome. The organizers said that they love what they do and even if there is a lot of organization behind the scenes, they are always so happy to see the results. “I loved planning Paint ‘n’ Sip, so I am glad that the students really enjoyed it,” Lasso said.

In the end, everyone had fun and was largely entertained. “I loved how Paint n’ Sip turned out! I am so glad people enjoyed it and were able to show their creative side through their designs and final products,” Rosborough said.

The feelings of joy could be felt around the room. “I really hope that this event happens again next year because it’s cool to meet people that also do not know what they are doing but are here to just have fun like me,” an anonymous attendee commented.

It was clear that attendees appreciated being able to express their work in art. “Art can look like anything, and anything can look like art,” one group remarked. OSA did an amazing job as usual with this event and surely will the many upcoming events before the end of the school year.
