Elizabethtown College’s own Mad Cow Improv hosted their annual November charity show last week on Nov. 5. This years’ show was dedicated to Dream Come True, a nonprofit organization based in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley. Similar to the Make a Wish Foundation, Dream Come True helps kids in their community that have been diagnosed or affected by some sort of illness by fulfilling a dream of theirs.
Dream Come True has a special place in Mad Cow tech member and junior communications major Jake Moser’s life. Moser, who is known as Banana Cream Pie to the Mad Cow, was diagnosed with leukemia in January 2019. Because Moser considered his diagnosis easy to manage, he and his family wanted to help kids who were unfortunately not in the same position as him.
“My family and I have started an annual golf outing to help raise money, but I wanted to find other ways to help,” Moser said. “Thankfully, Mad Cow was looking for a charity to help raise money for, and they loved the idea of Dream Come True.”
During the show, Mad Cow raised $332, which exceeded their $200 goal. This is in part due to the hilariousness of the cows that had laughter echoing all throughout Gibble Auditorium.
Junior multicultural human services major Judas Foster, also known as Socks Are Bussin’, is one of the newest cows to join the herd. This show was only their second one, and they recounted why they liked being a member.
“My favorite part of being in Mad Cow is the games,” Foster said. “Learning the games can be involved, but once I know the rules enough to play, they’re so fun to be a part of.”
For this Mad Cow show, Foster’s favorite part was their turns during the game Questions, in which the cows had to perform a scene speaking only in questions.
“Gavin [McCabe] tends to be pretty good at it, so lasting so long against him was fun,” Foster said.
McCabe, or on stage referred to as Love Doctor, is the president of Mad Cow and a senior history major. Fans who have been coming to Mad Cow shows for awhile will know McCabe for his dedication to every scene he is in.
“My favorite bit was when Mickey Mouse was under questioning by Arson,” McCabe said. “I love doing impressions like that!”
Mad Cow’s next show is Jan. 28 with more details coming on their Instagram, @madcowimprov.
