Etown holds 28th annual Homecoming parade

This year, it may have rained on our parade, but the parade went on nonetheless! Held indoors on Oct. 14, several school clubs and organizations presented their floats over Homecoming weekend.

Sock and Buskin, “Alice in Wonderland” Float

Sock and Buskin is a theater club that happens to be the oldest club on campus. They provide theater workshops and activities for students to explore and learn more about the stage, costumes and acting. They also promote theater events on campus where students can create their own performances. Their float played the song “Dream” by the Pied Pipers.

Best Buddies, “Best Buddies are All-Stars” Float

Best Buddies is an international organization whose mission is to establish a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendship, integrated employment, leadership development and inclusive living for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Elizabethtown College’s Best Buddies club works to develop meaningful friendships through group events such as holiday parties, movie nights and bingo. Their Shrek-themed float partied to “All Star” by Smash Mouth. Shrek was very committed to his role. 

Melica, “Melica in a Tangle” Float

Melica is Etown’s all-female acapella group whose goal is to empower and bring together women on campus through friendship, bonding and a shared love of music. The group performed an acapella version of “I See the Light” from the movie “Tangled.”

Middle Eastern Culture Club, “Aladdin and a Wonderful Lamp” Float

Etown’s Middle Eastern Culture Club welcomes students of all descents to learn about Middle Eastern culture, food and history. Their float featured the Magic Carpet, Jasmine and Abu.

E-motion, “Beauty and the Blue Jay” Float

E -motion is the all-inclusive dance club on campus that is open to all levels of dance experience. The club brings those together who want to move their bodies, serve local communities and improve health. They are the largest club on campus. E-motion performed a dance to “Be Our Guest” from “Beauty and the Beast.”

Honors Council, “Honors in Neverland” Float

The Honors Council is a group of students who serve members of the Honors Program by planning events, representing the Honors Program and connecting honors students with the honors director and other faculty. Their mission statement is to enhance honors learning opportunities and represent the needs of the individuals in Eown’sHonors Program. The group performed a short skit with Captain Hook and the Lost Boys.

Elizabethtown College Dance Team, Float

Elizabethtown College Dance Team is an audition-based advanced dance team focused on hip-hop, jazz and contemporary dance. They perform at club events and shows, as well as sporting events. This fall, they will be premiering their brand new show “Dancing with the Jays” in The Leffler Chapel and Performance Center. 

Class of 2026, “Three Little Pigs” Float

The Class of 2026, which is part of the student assembly, had the theme of “Three Little Pigs.” Their float had the three little pigs, the big bad wolf and a house. 

Class of 2025, “ Jack and the Birds Nest” Float

The Class of 2025 performed a skit where Jack, who had to sell the family cow, sold it for some magic beans that grew a giant beanstalk. This led him to the magical egg-laying blue jay which he stole from an angry giant. Jack lived happily ever after…the giant not so much.

Even with the unlucky weather of Homecoming weekend, these groups made the most of it, and the parade went on.
