2021 Homecoming Parade kicks off Homecoming and Family Weekend festivities

On Saturday, Oct. 16th, the 2021 Elizabethtown College Homecoming Parade was held. The parade featured community organizations, such as the Elizabethtown Police and Fire Departments, as well as numerous floats from the College.

Etown President Cecilia M. McCormick, J.D. rode in a car near the beginning of the parade. Following her were various student clubs and organizations, as well as the Homecoming King and Queen, Sam Niles and Natalie Blanton.

Organizations represented included Alumni Council, Honors Council and Emotion, as well as a cappella groups Melica, Vocalign and Phalanx. Also in the parade were the Etown dance team and members of the Homecoming Court.

The parade was well-received by those in attendance.

“It’s great to see people enjoying themselves and things getting back to normal like they were before COVID,” junior Andrew Furman said. “The class of 2023 and class of 2022 both had really good floats.”

First-year Tyler Seidel agreed with Furman.

“[I thought] the parade was pretty good,” he said. “There was a lot of variety [in the floats].”

Other members of the community also enjoyed the parade, including Jim Young, the father of a first-year student.

While Young couldn’t decide on a favorite part of the parade, he said, “It was a nice long parade, for a small town.”

“I’ve gone to parades in small towns before, and I thought [the College] did a real nice job,” Young said.

At the parade’s conclusion, McCormick officially announced the start of 2021 Homecoming and Family Weekend.
