Welcome to the Jungle: How six cute cats keep Cassidy Rohrman company

What’s better than one cat? Six of course! Sophomore public health major Cassidy Rohrman has five cats living at their dad’s house in Windsor, Pa., and one living at their mom’s house in Red Lion, Pa.

The oldest of the bunch is Nefertiti, or Titi for short. Titi is a 10-year-old black rescue cat. She lives in Windsor with Rohrman’s dad and is the queen of the household. She rules justly, but isn’t afraid to put the other cats in line once in a while. She loves to play and her favorite toy is a crinkle ball. Titi is very affectionate, and loves to cuddle with Rohrman and their step-mother.

“She seems to always know when we’re sick and sad, so she gives us cuddles,” Rohrman said.

Next is six-year-old Butternut, who also lives in Windsor. Butternut is mostly white with some orange spots on his face and back. His favorite thing to do is go outside and eat grass. Like Titi, he is very affectionate but he prefers Rohrman’s dad. He doesn’t have a favorite toy, but he loves tricking his humans into giving him more treats, especially churus. Unfortunately, Butternut doesn’t get along with other cats very well, and his housemates often chase him around.

Gracie is the only cat who lives with Rohrman’s mom in Red Lion. She is a lazy calico who just likes to laze around and lay in people’s laps. As she is also a rescue, Rohrman isn’t quite sure how old she is, but she is at least four years old. She doesn’t understand the concept of time, and will start meowing for her food for two hours before she is supposed to be fed. And yes, before you ask, she is on a diet.

Poppy is a spicy kitty with a sweet spot for Rohrman. Poppy is a long-haired white cat with brown spots on her head and tail. Poppy is four and gets along well with the other cats around her age, MJ and Gibby. Unfortunately she likes to antagonize Butternut.

“Poppy is very feisty but loves her cuddles. Her favorite human is me,” Rohrman said.

Next is the rascal named MJ, or Milo Jr. MJ is a short-haired gray tabby who’s three years old. He’s always up to something and causing trouble whether it’s on his own or not. He’s very playful and loves humans. MJ gets along with Poppy and the other cats, but he and Gibby are a bounded pair.

Finally, meet Gibby! Gibby is a very skittish fluffy gray cat and the youngest of the group. As he’s a little nervous without MJ there with him, he’ll only accept attention on his terms. He may be shy, but he loves to play with spiral cat toys and get into trouble with MJ and Poppy.

Having six cats is definitely an interesting and entertaining part of Rohrman’s life, but unfortunately they have to deal with a lot of cat hair!
