Hi, I’m Daisy! Right now, I’m about to go on one of our daily walks. Well, I actually bounce between Jim Thorpe and Long Island. Both places are wonderful this time of year as they’re not too hot nor too cold. Personally, Pennsylvania is slightly better, but only because our house has a huge yard to play in and a lot more animals to chase after. Sure, you can come along!
I was adopted by my mom, Lea, when I was around four months old from a shelter. It took some getting used to being in a nice home, but I settled in quickly. I may have escaped once or twice, but it was only because I smelled a squirrel somewhere. I just had to go get it. I live with my mom and her parents, but I typically see her grandmother every day. She usually sneaks in treats for me. My favorite kind are the bone biscuits. Mmm, so crunchy… Yes, I will get along with you even if you don’t have treats. I prefer humans over dogs to be honest. I had a bad experience with another dog at a park, which makes me a little wary of other pets. Yeah, that’s why I don’t have any siblings. But more attention and love for me.
My favorite toy is any type of ball. Literally, any type. Soccer balls, baseballs, tennis balls, plastic balls, even snowballs. Seriously. If it looks like a ball, I’m on it. Gives me a chance to run around in the yard and practice my hunting skills, especially if a ball gets lost. It’s also good practice for when there’s a bird or squirrel in our yard. I love playing in the woods and fields because I can easily chase after the little guys farther. Oh–one time, I actually chased a herd of deer. Yeah, seriously; I was with my mom and her dad on a trail. I saw them before my mom did and took the opportunity to chase after them. Oh my God was it awesome. It was exhausting afterwards, but it was so much fun. My mom was a little worried about me disappearing though. Apparently, she had been calling for me for 20 minutes. Yeah, I won’t do it anymore, unless they come into my yard.
I also love belly rubs. As soon as you start petting me, I collapse to the ground and roll over. I love pets, especially after a nice long walk in the summertime. I can’t wait for the semester to end so I can go on walks every day. Yeah, during quarantine, I would get so many pets and belly rubs and walks after my mom’s classes. Honestly, it was the best summer ever and it got even better in the fall. My mom decided to do more remote learning in the fall semester, so I got to spend a lot of time with her. This semester though, my mom went back to campus. I do miss her a little, but I know she’s going to be back home soon.
Wait! Is that a squirrel? Sorry! I gotta go! See ya!
