Next Friday, March 25, the Elizabethtown College History Club will be hosting a tour, guided by Director of Special Programs and Prestigious Scholarships and Fellowships Jean-Paul Benowitz, of the Elizabethtown community.
The tour will take students through some of the historic highlights of Etown, and as the sun sets the path will be lit by historic lanterns. All students are welcome to attend, and anyone who comes to the event is sure to learn something new about the community. Not only is the tour an exciting opportunity for those interested in history, it’s a perfect opportunity for students to appreciate the warmer weather and ambient atmosphere of sunset and a lantern-lit stroll. For those interested in more information about Elizabethtown and surrounding communities, they may also consider taking Professor Benowitz’s class, Public Heritage Studies (PHS) 201, next year. The class takes a more in-depth look at local history and is repeatable for two or four credits.
With this being one of the first events History Club has hosted since its revival last semester, they hope to see many students come out for this event. In addition to the walking tour, History Club is also planning a trip to Gettysburg, Pa. in April. More information on that event will be released closer to the date of the trip.
Any students planning to attend the tour should plan to meet in the Myer Residence Hall Courtyard, near the Susquehanna Room, around sunset. No sign up is required. A more definitive time is due to be released by History Club in the coming days via their Instagram account. Any questions should be directed to the History Club email, historyclub@etown.edu.
