Hello everyone! I must apologize for missing our Weekly Treat. Midterms have arrived, and like many of you in the Crumb Crew, that can be a busy time. But fear not, for I have a snack entry from the hustle and bustle of my work, a Rita’s Gelato!
With spring being officially ushered in, it’s only fitting that we serve up an Elizabethtown College favorite for the warm seasons. I’ve chosen a cotton candy ice with vanilla custard on one of these past days where the weather was perfect for a walk. A good flavor combo, especially if you want to mix them together. Very cool and sweet, and the best part is this is not the only flavor combo you can get! New ice flavors are premiered every day, along with some various custard flavors as well. It may be disappointing if your favorite is not on the menu that day, but it’s all the more reason to try something new each time. Of course, when it comes to ice cream, things can get sticky and messy fast. If you can, I’d recommend plenty of napkins and a lid to prevent spills.
Rita’s isn’t the only place where you can get a sweet treat. In the Masonic Village, there’s a very nice farmer’s market near the apple orchard. Their ice cream parlor is fantastic, in both its service and its ice cream. Some flavors are cycled through each day, so you might see at least one new flavor each visit. Don’t worry, the Weekly Treat will provide a future entry of that fine establishment, but that’s a story for another day. This will be part of a movement to start exploring the local food scene, showing off what Etown has to offer, along with a few entries for “Easy Dorm DIYs” on simple, quick and even healthy snacks for the average college student.
As for today’s long awaited entry, 10/10, would definitely recommend going in town to Rita’s when a nice day comes around.
