Students of Etown: Ava Lammersen

Ava Lammersen is 19 years old and currently attends Elizabethtown College as a sophomore. Lammersen is from Woodstown, N.J., and decided to join the flock at Etown because she was impressed with the liberal arts academic rigor, the location of the College, and the small yet welcoming class size Etown offers to its students.

There was a plethora of reasons why Lammersen decided to become a Blue Jay, but her biggest influence was the sports program. Lammersen is very involved in the sports and clubs at the College. She serves as the community service committee chair for the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and is also a part of the Women in STEM club and the Pre-Health Society. Through the Office of Student Activities, Lammersen is a student activist and was able to participate in events such as corn-hole tournaments and the Special Olympics. Additionally, she gives back to her community by providing food for local homeless shelters. On top of all the well-rounded qualities Lammersen possesses here at school, she is also a Resident Assistant in Schlosser Residence Hall and has a work-study through Northwest EMS in Etown.

Lammersen is a student athlete and plays on the women’s soccer team as a defender on the outside wing. Lammersen has played since grade school and could not imagine her life without soccer. She had a great first year with the team and made lifelong memories that she will take with her long after her time at Etown. Some of her favorite memories she has is getting hyped in the locker rooms before games. The women’s soccer team has been a very crucial part of Lammersen’s identity as she attends Etown, and she can not wait to see what the rest of the 2022 soccer season has in store for the team.

Lammersen’s academic life at Etown consists of being a biology major with a minor in chemistry. Lammersen’s plans after her time at Etown include going to medical school with a focus on children’s health and possibly seeking out military opportunities to help her pay her way through. She aspires to work in the pediatric field and eventually become a pediatrician. Lammersen is a hard-working student and exemplifies what it means to be a part of the Etown community.
