In lieu of the second “Terrifier” movie that came out in October, I am bringing this 2016 masterpiece into the spotlight once again. This chilling film is one not for the faint of heart.
The opening scenes show a horribly deformed girl doing a news interview about her survival of the movie’s events. Besides the short, interview portion of the movie, the events all take place on Halloween night. Art the Clown, played by David Howard Thornton, stalks two young girls on their way home from a party in the city. Since they are both intoxicated, they decide to go to a local pizza shop to sober up. At first he watches them from a far but slowly moves up to interacting with them. He has a special interest in the brunette of the duo, but she consistently finds him off-putting due to his lack of speech. Thornton does a beautiful job of playing Art with his tantalizing facial expressions and body language. He does an amazing job with both the animated clown-like nature as well as the horrifying slasher villain. Writer and director Damien Leone has a beautifully twisted mind shown throughout this movie. No two kills are the same and he manages to reveal so many character details about an antagonist who never even utters a word. If you like blood, guts and gore, this is definitely the movie for you.
