Job Spotlight: ECTV Director of Post-Production

Before any episode of an ECTV-40 production goes to air on YouTube, one person must compile everything together and is crucial to the publishing process. For this year’s board of ECTV, junior H Zangwill has taken on the pivotal role of director of post-production.

Zangwill was influenced by her love of famous YouTubers such as Markiplier and JackSepticEye and their styles of editing to apply for the role of director of post-production. “Their humor and editing really influenced how I edit and how I am as a person in general,” Zangwill said.

Zangwill oversees any and all decisions regarding editing, audio and video choices. Recently, she acquired an assistant, junior J Elliott, who takes on more specific productions like ECTV News to edit, which Elliott is also a co-producer on. Zangwill is also willing to help wherever needed before or during productions to help other board members.

She also helps to set up cameras and lighting in a way that makes her job the most efficient it can be.

Hours as the director of post-production range depending on the amount of content Zangwill is given when taping is complete, but the average week sees five to ten hours of editing work for Zangwill to complete.

ECTV-40 produces four total shows: ECTV News, ECTV Plays, ECTV Jaypardy and ECTV Tries. Station manager of ECTV Adam Dalle-Pazze has seen the impact Zangwill has made on the editing of these programs throughout her time as director of post-production.

“H does an amazing job at editing,” Dalle-Pazze said. “The videos are always high quality and H takes high attention to detail. I almost never have to ask her to change something.”

Zangwill loves working on all production, but loves ECTV Tries just a little more than the others.

“It’s a really great show with great places to express my specific editing and comedic style with a great crew and producers,” Zangwill said.

With the qualities and techniques learned through post-production, Zangwill was able to accept a summer position related to post-production, where she can use her knowledge to complete task including managing a YouTube channel, coordinating with coworkers and providing entertainment to all.

“I can’t wait to keep using my job as director of post-production to find more opportunities like this in the future,” Zangwill said.

Zangwill hopes her style of editing will inspire others around campus to not only join ECTV, but potentially also take over her position as director of post-production.

“I am always looking for others who are interested in doing what I do and in general finding others who want to express their talents through post-production,” Zangwill said.
