Elizabethtown College’s motto is “Educate for Service,” and many students who attend the College follow that ideal. When there are disparities in the system, the average person steps up, forms community and assists their fellow humans. That is what Etown urges students to do, whether it be there in their major or not. Let’s see what act of activism you should take up based on your zodiac sign.
Sagittarius (Nov. 22 – Dec. 21): Sagittarius loves to expand their views and circle, so they should do something versatile. Volunteering is a form of activism that can be anything, from working at a local food bank or joining an environmental cleanup group. Sagittarius have so many choices with volunteering, they could do them all if they wanted.
Capricorn (Dec. 21 – Jan. 20): Capricorns can be materially motivated, especially when it comes to finances. Calling for corporate change is when activists demand change in companies’ policies, oftentimes with boycotts and strikes. Capricorn’s knowledge of finances and business make them ideal for leading the charge in corporate change.
Aquarius (Jan. 21 – Feb. 18): Aquarius has a lot on their mind, and they’re willing to share it with those who listen. Rallies are like marches, but held at a singular location and usually involve speeches. At a rally, Aquarius can be the leader and spread their message of radical change.
Pisces (Feb. 19 – March 20): Pisces are expressive in every aspect of their life—they can’t help being as fluid as water. Art activism uses art and culture as a way to get messages of social change across to broader audiences. Pisces have the artistic and political insights needed to make moving art.
Aries (March 21 – April 19): Aries are known for their drive and ambition in conquering tasks. Marching involves organizing and participating in a demonstration or protest, often going from one location to another. Aries tenacity can empower other marchers to keep going, even in dire situations.
Taurus (April 20 – May 20): Taurus don’t like leaving the safety of their own home, they prefer staying where they know. Letter writing can be done indoors and can be sent to politicians, media or businesses to express concern or thanks for support. With letter writing, Taurus doesn’t have to compromise their comfort to make a difference.
Gemini (May 21 – June 20): Gemini are social individuals, and they have a lot to say when they get passionate about a topic. Educating yourself and others can include reading books, watching documentaries or attending workshops and sharing what was learned. Gemini has the connection building abilities needed to spread information fast.
Cancer (June 21 – July 22): Cancers care more for others than they do for themselves, which is selfless but also complicated. Life support is a form of activism where people provide help, whether it’s emotional or physical, to those living with disabilities, illness or challenges. Caring Cancers make the ideal helper when it comes to emotions.
Leo (July 23 – Aug. 22): Leos hog the attention in any situation they’re in, making them a memorable figure. Running for office is when an individual sees how things are, wants to change them and runs for office to do so. Leos make a great figurehead since they can command respect.
Virgo (Aug. 23 – Sept. 22): Virgos are intelligent and keen, able to discern a situation in a second. Petitioning involves collecting signatures for a specific cause or issue and presenting the petition to an organization or political leader. Virgos can easily convince people to sign the petition by picking up what motivates that person.
Libra (Sept. 23 – Oct. 22): Libra are rule followers, however, they do have a strong moral compass. Uncivil disobedience is the act of following rules to a tee, so much so that it makes others uncomfortable or inconveniences them. The ability of Libras to stick to something so forthright makes them great at uncivil disobedience.
Scorpio (Oct. 23 – Nov. 21): Scorpios have their stances, and don’t sway no matter what arguments are presented. Civil disobedience is when people refuse to follow a law or policy they view as unjust. The strong moral character that Scorpio possesses makes them the first to engage in civil disobedience.
