Elizabethtown College offers a multitude of clubs for students to get involved in and become passionate about–one of which being the Gender-Sexuality Alliance club (GSA). The cabinet consists of juniors Samhar Almomani, Mackenzie Pollachek and Zoe Enterline and sophomore Jayden Ryan.

The mission of the GSA is to provide a safe space for those with different sexualities and gender identities. It is of utmost importance to the club that they provide resources both on and off campus for any student that may need them.

Recently, the group has been utilizing their social media platforms to expand their reach on campus. Using their online profiles to advertise for upcoming events, reposting important information/resources and more has proven to be beneficial for the recognition of the club’s hard work.

“I have always loved posting on my personal profiles for entertainment, so I thought why not post resourceful information that I may come across,” Almomani said. “Social media has seemed to be a way to reach others on and off campus in a short amount of time. It’s really helpful when trying to get word about our club out there.”

The GSA hosts several events on campus, spanning from lectures in the library to drag shows in the KAV. An important upcoming event for all Blue Jays to attend is the GSA sponsored movie night, where they’re showing “Moonlight” in Gibble Auditorium on Oct. 4 from 7-9 p.m.

“This is a touching movie about the struggle of finding yourself through the challenges of adulthood,” Almomani said. “It is entertaining and provides a helpful perspective into a self-discovery that many people can relate to.”
