With over 80 clubs and organizations on campus, Elizabethtown College is a great place to meet peers with similar interests and get some extra experience in fields you may want to pursue after graduation. This week, we’re highlighting ECTV, the student broadcast media group.
The organization is led by six student board members: Station Manager Adam Dalle Pazze, Programming Director Brooke Weston, Director of Post-Production H Zangwill, Remotes Director Sal Salamone, Social Media Manager Ryan Goodnow and Director of Studio Operations Logan Zimmerman. Director of Student Media Andy Williams is the staff advisor.
Each position on the board oversees different aspects of the organization. The programming director checks footage before it is posted and adds content to the public, education and government access channel, the director of post-production edits productions and manages other editors, the remotes director assembles the crew and oversees remote productions, the social media manager posts about ECTV’s activities on the @ECTV-40 Instagram and Facebook pages and the director of studio operations checks the functionality of equipment and ensures the TV sets are ready. The station manager is the head of the organization, and makes sure all of the duties on and off set are being fulfilled.
Aside from the board members, the organization has about 20 other student volunteers who help with production. They help produce Jaypardy, Etown News, ECTV Playz and ECTV Tries, the organization’s weekly shows.
The shows are produced three times a week, showing at 7 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays. and at 4 p.m on Wednesdays.
Dalle Pazze initially joined the ECTV crew as a volunteer two and a half years ago, since it aligned with his career goals. He became the station manager about a year ago.
“I wanted to join to gain experience in the television industry and get a chance to edit video for the station,” he said.
Along with the technical experience he was searching for, Dalle Pazze also found a community of friendly and like-minded peers.
“I like the close bond our members have with each other,” he said. “We get dinner at the Marketplace, play video games together and hang out in the communications lounge. We all show up to productions and have fun working to achieve the best final productions possible and make each other laugh along the way.”
ECTV hosts events like dodgeball games and movie nights to help encourage and strengthen the bond between members.
Even if you aren’t majoring in a communications field, Dalle Pazze encourages his fellow Jays to get involved if they have any interest in helping to produce ECTV’s shows.
“ECTV is a welcoming community for everyone, whether you are a communications student or not,” he said. “You don’t need any experience in communications to join and experienced members of ECTV are more than willing to teach anyone interested about the different positions of our production crew.”
