Business Review: Reel Cinemas

With the end of the semester approaching faster than expected, why not take a break from studying and go see a movie? Reel Cinemas is a local movie theater located at 1500 Christopher Place, Lancaster, in the Crossings at Conestoga Creek shopping center. It’s about a 30 minute drive from Elizabethtown College, with the fastest route taking 283 East to US-30 West.

My roommate and I went to see “Terrifier 3” at Reel Cinemas shortly after it was released. I’d been once before to see the “Five Nights at Freddy’s” movie with my roommate, so we were aware of the setup.

There’s many places to get food near the theater, such as Starbucks, Shake Shack and Miller’s Ale House. We decided to stop by Shake Shack and Starbucks for dinner. However, we could’ve chosen to go to Final Cut, which is a bar and grille inside the cinema. They serve 10-inch brick oven pizzas, house favorites, burgers, salads, starters and desserts. We wanted more fast food this time, but we intend to dine at Final Cut someday before a movie.

We decided to go to the concession stand in the theater for our snacks.  They sell the usual fare: soda, slushies, popcorn, candy and simple finger food. The concession stand is also where they sell the tickets, so it’s easy to grab a snack for the movie while there. We got our medium popcorn, added lots of butter and butter salt and went to get cocktails.

For patrons over the age of 21, there is a bar right across from the concession stand that serves cocktails. Most of the cocktail’s range around $12 to $14 and have unique names. My roommate got Skull Island, and I got Unicorn Kiss. They even have themed drinks for movies playing, like the Terrifier cocktail for “Terrifier 3.” The drinks come in plastic cups and are permitted in the movie viewing area but are not allowed to be taken outside the theater. On Thursdays, there are $4 draft beers from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. which can be bought at the bar.

When it’s time to see the movie, there’s plenty of rooms with different showings. Our movie was in theater six, and we got seats right in the middle, which was a great view. Each room has ReelMax visuals, which includes a 4k laser projection, JBL speakers that deliver 360 round sounds and recliners with heated seats. The theater is appropriate when it comes to ad time, ensuring the movie isn’t delayed.

We had a great time. The movie was frightening, the popcorn was fresh and the seats were comfortable. The pricing for movies is reasonable for a theater with newer technology. However, if deals are what you’re looking for, Reel Cinemas definitely delivers.

This theater is college student friendly. If you bring a valid college ID the ticket will be discounted. The theater also offers weekly discount days. On Mondays, kids under 12 get $8 movie tickets, on Tuesdays, all tickets are $8 and on Wednesdays, senior citizens get $8 movie tickets.

There’s also daily early bird tickets and night owl tickets. Early bird tickets are $7 before noon, night owl tickets are $10 after 10 p.m.

Overall, my roommate and I had a great time seeing “Terrifier 3” at Reel Cinemas. I highly recommend seeing a movie there, especially considering the daily discounts.
