After a hard-fought battle in Super Bowl LVII, the Kelce brothers are taking a well-deserved break from football this offseason. Thirty three-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and 35-year-old Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce are two of the top players at their position in the National Football League (NFL) and are now teaching a health and fitness class. The two agreed to teach this group fitness class over the weekends and it is coming to Elizabethtown College.
J. Kelce, who contemplated retirement this offseason, signed an extension with the Eagles for one year worth $14.25 million. The star center mentioned on his podcast that he was nearing retirement and was looking forward to using his free time to teach fitness classes around the Pennsylvania area. However, his younger brother stepped in, and the two came to an agreement.
T. Kelce mentioned on the same podcast that he was able to lure his brother back into playing by offering to help him teach a group fitness class this offseason. In return, J. Kelce would come back for one last NFL season. Like his older brother, T. Kelce shares a passion for exercise and fitness and is excited to get things going.
So why Etown? Well, it was J. Kelce who decided on the location. The franchise cornerstone has spent the entirety of his illustrious 12-year, going on 13-year, career with the Eagles and has spent a lot of time around the Pennsylvania area. An anonymous source said J. Kelce chose Etown because of the campus and community, also mentioning he is excited to help young adults here improve their health through the class.
T. Kelce let his brother pick the spot, as he is not nearly as familiar with the Pennsylvania area, but mentioned he has already gotten familiar with the campus and has met some great people. The same source mentioned that T. Kelce is excited to see the community be so excited about the class and cannot wait to get started.
Of course, Etown students are overjoyed to see an Eagles legend like J. Kelce on campus to teach a class, along with another all-time football great in T. Kelce. Sign-up sheets filled up quickly, and the students who were not able to sign up in time are pushing to find a way to join the class.
The first class is on Saturday, April 1. Hopefully, this is the start of what could become a regular weekend event on campus.
