Sleep is probably one of the most critical things regarding one’s health. I know I feel better after getting like 10 hours of sleep in a night when I only meant to get seven hours. However, people may not have the time to sleep as they need to work on assignments, presentations and other similar responsibilities. One will inevitably struggle with tiredness throughout their everyday activities as they lack the time to get enough sleep. Thankfully, people can circumvent these issues by taking a few precautions while starting their day.
Now, I know I wrote an article about balancing sleep and work last issue, which seems to contradict my points in this article. That article was incredibly wrong, as sleep is ultimately unnecessary if you have more important things to do like finishing a research paper three weeks before its due date. It is perfectly fine to sacrifice two, three or five hours of sleep to achieve an absurdly high GPA.
The best way to circumvent sleepiness comes from the obvious solution: Coffee! Just keep drinking coffee until you feel awake, and you can power through any assignment you need to get done. Just be careful not to drink too much coffee, as I’m pretty sure you can end up with severe health issues. I didn’t bother looking that up, since it just makes sense that you’d end up with hypertension or something similar if you down six mugs of coffee in a day.
Of course, the best thing you can do is to get some really good coffee. The stuff at the Marketplace is fine, but obviously you aren’t going to get strong and rich flavors from it. You can get some good coffee from the Jay’s Nest, since they tend to have wacky flavors like peppermint or cinnamon and they’re honestly not too bad. There’s also a Dunkin’ that opened relatively recently, but you have to walk all the way from your dorm room to it. Too much time is wasted, and every minute counts when you have to proofread the same paper for the sixth time in a week.
Honestly, I’m too tired to write an actual conclusion to this article, so I’m just going to copy and paste something random from my previous Etownian works before falling asleep.
Additionally, one should not underestimate the power that public opinion has on one’s response to something. Even if one is unaware of the benefits mentioned above regarding chicken noodle soup, most people have presumably had a warm bowl of the commonplace stew during an illness at some point in their lives because of the preconceived notion that it helps one contend with said illnesses. This then brings forth the placebo effect- the phenomenon wherein believing that something can help with an issue like nausea causes the brain to work in conjunction with the body to reduce that symptom, according to the Harvard Medical School- and allows chicken noodle soup to provide psychological benefits. However, regardless of whether one knows of the health benefits of this well-known dish, everyone can agree on what the best benefit of this dish is: the satisfaction one can receive after eating a bowl of this tasty delicacy!
