All this past week, Elizabethtown College students have had the pleasure of basking in the sun’s rays as they walked across campus. Some sported tank tops, shorts and flip flops due to the immense heatwave we got.
Perhaps one of the best things about the warm weather is that students got the chance to go outside on the Dell and play some field games, like Frisbee and soccer. Others just lied in the grass while they did homework. No one had to struggle with freezing temperatures and bundle up with their coats and mittens.
Some advice for everyone on campus is to stock up on 100 SPF sunscreen and diligently reapply it every two hours. Maybe even run down to the Fruitville Pike Target and buy a stylish sun hat if you get the chance. With the intense sun that has heated up the weather, you can never be too safe.
Another important factor is staying hydrated. You need to consume at least eight cups of water a day, and if not, you risk getting heat exhaustion. Stay away from hot drinks like tea and hot chocolate that you would gravitate to in the cold weather. You do not need them now. Luckily, Founders Residence Hall and the Hackman Apartments had access to clean and cool water all week, so they were able to remain hydrated.
All of Etown, enjoy this lovely spring weather while you get the chance. You never know when there will be a random snow storm a week after you had 80 degree weather.
